How can i get my phone to ring for longer b4 it goes into voicemail?

when someone rings my phone, it only rings four times before it goes into voicemail (i.e. it goes ring-ring, ring-ring, ring-ring, ring-ring...voicemail). is there a way i can extend the ringing duration to give me more of a chance to get to the phone and answer it?
